The 2010 vintage was full of unpredictability! Late bud-break and a moderately warm summer showed promise of an excellent year for Pinot Noir, albeit delayed. After veraison, with harvest fast approaching, we saw a radical climb in temperature in the Russian River Valley pushing Bohemian Vineyard into optimal ripeness levels. This allowed for tremendous fruit aromatics and intense, concentrate palate.
The 2010 Bohemian opens with a nose full of ripe berry, lavender and subtle earth. Explosive acidity on entry, followed by layers of plum, cocoa and pie cherry. The weighty mid-palate is lifted by floral nuance and cola. Finish is long and sultry. Will drink beautifully over the next few years with the structure to age 5-7 years.

The 2009 vintage had it's share of challenges like any other year. The biggest challenge for this particular vintage was the impending mid-harvest rain, making it a race between ripeness and Ma Nature. Nevertheless, these conditions helped us to produce restrained, supple wines. The nose opens up with vibrant honeysuckle, strawberry & sage. Lush on entry, with lively red fruit across the palate, nuanced by fresh floral tones and mineral. Finishes long and clean. Showing great restraint in its youth, this wine will evolve gracefully for 5-7 years.

The 2008 growing season was characterized by significant challenges as a very dry spring gave way to frost, fires and unusually long heat spikes. The Bohemian Vineyard was not able to escape all the elements and, most notably, the April 20th freeze wiped out a significant portion of the early-budding fruit. While yields were much lower, this made for extremely high quality fruit -- much like in 2007 – as surviving clusters and berries were small and intensely concentrated. Late summer heat waves accelerated the ripening process with harvest occurring in early October.

The 2007 Bohemian Vineyard Pinot Noir shows beautiful purity, with multiple layers of red and black fruits followed by a hint of dried herbs and earth. The wine enters gently onto the palate but then explodes with fruit. Its oak, fruit, and alcohol components are well-balanced, giving it a lingering mouth-feel, and its solid acid backbone carries the wine to a delightful finish. Imagine the possibilities once this wine has a year of bottle age!

The 2006 Bohemian Vineyard Pinot Noir is medium to deep red-violet in color with intriguing aromatics of deep cherry and cola nut. The palate is rich and mouth-filling with hints of cherry underlying soft black fruit, herbal tea, and cotton candy flavors. The wine has a strong acid backbone and, even more so, an "acid core" that gives the wine restraint and elegance. This acidity, combined with well-integrated tannins and a balanced French oak finish contribute to a wine that, while enjoyable now, will age beautifully over the next five years.
